At the start of each semester, faculty should run through a checklist to ensure their Moodle courses are ready to go. This checklist is not comprehensive, merely a suggestion of things that are sometimes overlooked:
- Have you provided contact information for students? For example: your name, contact information, preferred communication method, expected response times.
- Have you checked the accuracy of important dates? For example: major due dates on the syllabus, submission dates and instructions for assignments and assessments.
- Are there any spelling or grammatical errors in newly added content?
- Do media and images display properly? Do they have alt-text, captions, or transcripts? If not, add them! (Not sure how? Check out the CLASS office website: https://www.augsburg.edu/class/faculty/universal-design/)
- Have you checked all the hyperlinks, linked files, and videos? Make sure that you open all external website links and links to library resources to ensure that everything works.
- Have you given your students guidelines or expectations for the use of discussion forums or other collaborative tools?
- Have you published your course and made it available to students?
